Social Research Methodology
Nyan Corridor believes that research and research knowledge is significantly supportive in changing global circuit of knowledge and power. The circuit means the generation, attribution, circulation, exchange and use of knowledge and power globally (Borras and Franco, 2023). Nyan Corridor, as actions of Scholar Activism seeks the world a just global society free from the exploitation and oppression of the globally dominant power circuit in which unfettered power is interconnectedly constitutive among capitalists, clientelist, militarists, fascist, racists, and sexists.
Research philosophies (ontology and epistemology) are very useful to understand the socially constructed nature of social realities in the social world which is dominated by powerful groups. The knowledge produced by research works inclusively undertaken by the researchers with the mindfulness of their situated and long constructed knowledge is powerful to make a balanced circuit of knowledge which is fundamental to a just society.
Nyan Corridor adopts a Critical Political Economy and Political Ecology analytical framework to examine Myanmar’s socio-political and environmental issues within the broader structures of global capitalism. In addition, Nyan Corridor maintains a long-term research agenda in the fields of Political Economy and Political Ecology, with a sustained focus on structural power relations, accumulation processes, and socio-ecological transformations.
In line with the above-mentioned visions Nyan Corridor has developed the School of Social Research with three main teaching and learning programs which are realised in collaboration with national and international scholars:
