"The Humanitarian Observatory Project amplifies local voices to shape more inclusive and accountable humanitarian governance"

Humanitarian Observatory

In collaboration with the International Institute of Social Studies (ISS) at Erasmus University Rotterdam in the Hague, Nyan Corridor is serving as a country host for the project, "Humanitarian Observatories: Building a Knowledge and Advocacy Network on Humanitarian Governance." The project's mission is to fundamentally reimagine humanitarian governance by creating a network of locally embedded observatories in areas affected by crisis.

These observatories act as knowledge and advocacy hubs, bringing together local humanitarian actors, civil society, researchers, and community representatives to research, document, and advocate for more inclusive and accountable humanitarian action. Through regular Observatory meetings, research outputs, peer learning exchanges, and advocacy workshops, the project connects community-based knowledge with policy and practice arenas.

In Myanmar, this includes producing localized research briefs on humanitarian governance, supporting frontline actors to document their lived experiences, and facilitating knowledge exchange with regional and international partners. By bridging local insights with advocacy beyond Myanmar, the Humanitarian Observatory project challenges top-down aid structures and works toward a more equitable humanitarian system where local voices shape the agenda.
